(LOS ANGELES – April 21, 2014) — Ross Goldberg and Carol Stevenson of Kevin/Ross Public Relations recently addressed advanced public relations students at the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism at the University of Southern California. With more than 2,200 undergraduate and graduate students and dozens of research and public interest projects and programs, the Annenberg School is widely regarded as one of the nation’s most prestigious centers for discussion among scholars and professionals in journalism, communication, public policy, media and education.
In his remarks Kevin/Ross President Goldberg discussed with students the changing dynamics of the public relations and journalism industries, including how the proliferation of online communications has altered the way consumers receive their information. He also provided graduating students a primer in the different dimensions of the public relations field from the perspectives of agency, corporate and not-for-profit settings.
Earlier this school year, Kevin/Ross Vice President Stevenson addressed Annenberg students on the art of media relations, citing examples from a successful career of working with leading journalists to cultivate stories about her clients and to manage the media appropriately in times of crisis or controversy. A frequent speaker at Annenberg, Stevenson is head of media relations for Kevin/Ross and has been part of the agency since 2000, before which she served as California’s public affairs specialist for the American Red Cross.
Jim Yeager, president of breakwhitelight, a public relations agency, whose Annenberg class Goldberg and Stevenson addressed said, “It’s invaluable for graduating seniors to hear from top-flight professionals who can draw from their extensive experience and offer real-world examples as these students prepare to set sail on a career in PR.”
